Fire safety awareness within the workplace or at home should be second nature and should always be practiced to keep friends and family safe in the event of a fire. Turn pot handles toward the back of the stove to prevent spills & burns. Always keep a lid nearby when cooking on the stove. If a small fire starts, slide the lid over the pan and turn off the burner. For more information on Fire Prevention Week, visit https://www.nfpa.org/Events/Events/Fire-Prevention-Week

Grill Safely for Delicious Meals! 🍳🔥 As we enjoy outdoor cooking, it's crucial to prioritize safety. When your grill is in use, it should be kept in an open space, away from anything that might catch fire, including siding, deck railings, eaves, or tree branches. Never leave a lit grill unattended. Also, make sure to place the grill a safe distance from lawn games, play areas, and foot traffic & keep children and pets away from the grill area. It’s best to have a 3-foot “kid-free zone” around the grill.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) celebrates National Fire Prevention Week, October 8-14, 2023. Fire safety awareness within the workplace or at home should be second nature and should always be practiced to keep friends and family safe in the event of a fire. Fire safety will be discussed each day this week at Finley-Sharon, but parents should take time this month to evaluate your fire safety checklist, such as reviewing your emergency action plan, communicating roles, and establishing an evacuation route. Always keep a close eye on what you’re cooking. For foods with longer cook times, such as those that are simmering or baking, set a timer to help monitor them carefully.⁣ Clear the cooking area of combustible items and keep anything that can burn, such as dish towels, oven mitts, food packaging, and paper towels.⁣ For more information on Fire Prevention Week, visit https://www.nfpa.org/Events/Events/Fire-Prevention-Week
