Thank you, Griggs-Steele Empowerment Zone (GSEZ), for sponsoring a field trip to the Oscar-Zero Launch Control Center, part of the Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site for our Juniors & Seniors & their Social Studies teacher, Mr. Tyler Gustin, last week. Oscar-Zero is an important part of the history and culture of our state, nation, and world. The students enjoyed learning about a military strategy for nuclear deterrence that was operating in “our own backyard” to which very few people were privy. Because the missile site has become a ND State Historic Site, our students have the good fortune and opportunity to tour the facility and learn about its operations during the cold-war era!
